Licence

One codebase. The licence turns the features on.

Every edition of Tasur is the same engine. The paid tiers are licence flags, not separate products. And because the engine is published under the AGPL licence, we say the quiet part out loud: you can compile it yourself and switch everything on.

One engine, four editions

There is one engine. Tasur Kassaraamat, Standard, Pro and Tasur Büroo are the same code, with features switched on by the licence. Nothing is rebuilt, and nothing is migrated when you move between tiers. The upgrade is a key, not a project.

Tasur Kassaraamat is not a demo. It is a real ledger; it simply has no automation. When your company grows past it, a paid tier adds the automation, and the books stay where they are.

The engine is AGPL

The engine that runs Tasur is published under the AGPL licence. The source is open. Anyone can read it, run it, and check what it does with their books.

That includes the licence flags. You can compile the engine yourself and switch every feature on, without paying us anything. The licence permits it, and we would rather say it ourselves. What you pay for is the managed service, the updates, the support, and statutory file formats that stay up to date — not a lock.

What the AGPL means for your business

You can run the engine however you want: inside your company, for your clients, on any server. The licence imposes an obligation in one case only: if you change the code and offer the changed version to others as a service over a network, you must publish your changes under the same licence.

Most companies never trigger that case. Keeping the books of your own company is fine. A bureau keeping the books of its clients is fine. Selling a changed version as your own service without publishing the changes is not. And whatever you build from the engine, the licence does not let you call it Tasur. The name stays ours.

Your data walks out with you

Every tier can export the books completely: the records as files, and the whole database as a dump. An export can be loaded into a fresh self-hosted engine. Portability is a feature we maintain, not a courtesy we grant on the way out.

Four steps, in euros

Tasur Kassaraamat is free of charge forever. Standard costs 15 euros per month and Pro costs 35 euros per month. Tasur Büroo costs 249 euros per month for an accounting firm with an unlimited number of client companies. The prices exclude VAT, and Estonian VAT is 24%.

Fair questions

If I can compile the engine and turn every feature on, why pay?

Because the flag is not what you are buying. The paid service is hosting in the European Union, backups, updates, support, and statutory file formats that are kept current when the rules change. If you would rather run all of that yourself, the Büroo licence costs the same on your own servers.

Does the free-of-charge tier quietly expire?

No. It has no time limit and it does not expire. Its boundaries are published openly on the pricing page, and they will be confirmed before launch.

Can my accounting bureau host Tasur for me?

Yes. Running the engine as a service for the bureau's own clients is exactly what the Büroo tier is for, hosted by us or on the bureau's own servers at the same price.

What happens to my books if Tasur disappears?

The engine's source is open and your data exports completely. In the worst case you run the last published version yourself, or any contractor runs it for you. That is the point of the licence: the continuity of your books does not depend on the continuity of any company.
